I have always seen my mother taking care of all the stressful jobs in the family, starting from running this multi-generational family single-handedly to a few major construction projects (multi-story houses in three locations), while my father worked abroad for the most part. So much so, stress has made a permanent mark on her face. I saw this mostly in her photos (because I probably didn’t look at her real face that carefully).
The other night, I asked my mother – “what is your hobby?” and she said she doesn’t have any, which was no wonder to me because I hardly ever seen her doing anything for fun. She watches TV but all about social and political crisis in Bangladesh. She talks a lot on the phone – but all about daily issues with family and relatives. She cooks but how much of it is a need and how much of it is passion I don’t know. That night, I thought I actually don’t know much about what my mother thinks about life. (In here, I want to point out the difference between knowing and understanding. I have always understood my mother despite that I knew very little about her thoughts).
I've created this blog site and used the camouflage of a formal interview to ask her a few questions (people tend not to speak seriously if they are not under the spotlight). I was cautious not to make it TLTR or TLTW. Hence, I kept this precise to few questions. Do I know her better now? Maybe not. Five/six questions are not enough. For those of you watching this video, it can be a good start if you watch carefully, listen between words, and read every line on her face!
